Quick Answer

These answers cover the things that decide whether you're happy in year three rather than week one: material choice for the room, mount type, lift system and what the manufacturer warranty actually includes for a Camby order.

  • Services: faux wood blinds, wood blinds, vertical blinds, aluminum mini blinds
  • Service area: Camby, Marion County, IN and surrounding areas
  • The measure is bookable soon. Fabrication is the fixed cost in time, generally two to five weeks and longer on specialty shapes. If you have a date you're working toward, tell us at the measure and we'll be straight about it.

Your in home design consultation is free. We'll look at your openings and talk through the rooms you're planning to cover. Two story plans with lofts and open great rooms that lead to a backyard are the usual pattern in Camby's subdivisions, and some houses add a covered patio or porch. A two story living room brings tall windows above arm's reach, and a great room with backyard access puts light control and privacy on the same back wall. Window sizes change from one builder's plan to the next, so every opening gets measured on site, and any blinds already hanging get noted before anything is ordered.

I agree to be contacted by Camby Window Treatments regarding my inquiry.

Camby is an unincorporated area around ZIP 46113 that reaches across the Marion and Morgan County line, and its houses come from three distinct periods of building. Heartland Crossing, a large community built in named sections on both sides of the county line, dates to 1999 through 2005 and runs mostly to two story plans with lofts, with shared pools, courts and trails. Camby Village followed in 2012 and 2013. Glenwood Estates, Noble Heights and Parks at Decatur are newer still, with homes from 2022 onward and some lots still waiting for a house. Older houses on lots of two thirds of an acre or more sit along roads such as Camby Road and Oakhaven Drive. Most of the named communities carry monthly association dues, so finding out what the association allows comes early in any window covering plan.

Specialty shapes are where the measure gets interesting. Arches, angles, trapezoids over a stairwell, circles. Most of them can be templated, and most of them end up as a fixed shutter or a stationary panel because a curved opening can't track a moving shade. We'll tell you at the measure whether the shape you have in Camby is operable or decorative, since that's usually the deciding factor.

Fade is the thing people get wrong in both directions. NFRC attributes roughly 40 to 60 percent of fading damage to ultraviolet, with the rest coming from visible light and heat. So a solar shade or a lined drapery slows the damage to your hardwood and your upholstery. It doesn't stop it. Anybody in Camby telling you a shade prevents fading is either careless or selling something.

Built in the Last Few Years?

Many of our Camby customers moved into a house built by one of these companies. Builder blinds are usually stock sizes trimmed to fit, so if yours came with the house and never ran right, that is why. We measure the openings as built rather than off the plan.

What We Are Running in Camby Right Now

Both offers apply to work quoted and ordered while they are posted here. Ask about them at the in-home measure and we will put the discount on the written quote before you decide anything.

Offer 1

$500 Off Your First Exterior Screen, Plus a Free Motorization Upgrade

Take $500 off your first exterior screen and we will add the motorization upgrade at no charge. Exterior screens stop solar heat outside the glass, which is the only place you can stop it before it is already in the room, and a motor is the difference between using one and forgetting it.

Applies to a first exterior screen. Ask at the measure so the discount is on the written quote before you order. Motorized product runs on batteries that need replacing, about a year on Hunter Douglas PowerView.

Offer 2

Free Motorization Upgrade on Select Interior Shades

Pick from the qualifying interior shade lines and the motorization upgrade is free. It is worth most on the openings you would otherwise leave alone: tall great room glass, anything above a stair, and the west windows nobody remembers to close by four.

Select interior shade lines only. We will tell you at the measure which of your openings qualify. Batteries are a real running cost and are not included.

Flexible Financing

Payment Options That Work for You

A window covering project is worth doing right the first time. Financing options through Camby Window Treatments lender partners help you pay over time instead of cutting scope or delaying the work.

Deferred Payment Plans

Start the work now and begin paying later. On a whole-house order this is how people phase a large job without phasing the install.

  • Payments deferred for a promotional period
  • Rate and period set by the lender
  • Quoted price held for the order
Equal Payment Plans

Divide the project cost into equal monthly payments across a fixed promotional period, so the budget is predictable from day one.

  • Equal monthly payments
  • Fixed promotional period
  • Simple, predictable budgeting
Long-Term Financing

Spread a larger window treatment project across a longer term with fixed equal payments, for homeowners who want the lowest monthly amount.

  • Extended terms available
  • Fixed equal payments
  • Suited to larger window treatment projects
Ask About Financing

Financing is arranged through third party lenders and is subject to credit approval. Rates, terms, and promotional periods are set by the lender and disclosed to you in writing before you sign. Ask your project lead which programs are open right now.

Every Window Treatment Service We Offer in Camby

From one room to a whole house, Camby Window Treatments measures every opening, orders it custom, and installs it with the same crew that took the measurements.

Faux Wood Blinds in Camby

Inside mount looks built in and shows the trim. Outside mount covers the opening and hides a frame that isn't square. The factory takes a deduction off an inside-mounted width, typically a sixteenth of an inch per side, which is why an inside blind never touches both sides of a Camby opening.

Learn more

Wood Blinds in Camby

What moves the price on wood blinds is slat width and finish. A 2.5 inch slat uses more material than a 2 inch, and a hand-matched stain costs more than a stock paint. Custom treatments run about $250 to $2,600 per window nationally, and there's no published Camby figure.

Learn more

Vertical Blinds in Camby

West-facing Camby sliding doors take the worst of a July afternoon, and a wall of glass is the biggest load in the room. Vanes closed and angled cut the direct beam. They don't stop heat that's already through the glass, so an exterior shade goes on the list if the room still cooks.

Learn more

Aluminum Mini Blinds in Camby

Inside mount is the norm here because a 1 inch headrail needs very little depth, and even shallow Camby trim usually takes it. The factory deducts about a sixteenth of an inch per side so the blind clears, which means a hairline of light along each edge isn't a defect.

Learn more

Roller Shades in Camby

In zone 5A a Camby window carries a real July load and a real January load. A light-colored roller reflects some solar heat back out through the glass, and a heavier fabric closed at night adds a still air layer. Both effects are modest, and neither one's imaginary.

Learn more

Solar Shades in Camby

Solar shades for Camby west and south windows. Fabrics come in stated openness factors, and that number is the whole decision: lower cuts more glare and more view, higher keeps the view and cuts less. We show you 1, 3, 5 and 10 percent against your own window before you pick.

Learn more

Cellular Shades in Camby

A January cold snap is where cellular earns what it costs. Cold glass in a Camby bedroom pulls heat out all night and doesn't quit until sunrise, and a double cell shade closed to the frame puts trapped air between you and it. DOE and ORNL measured up to 20 percent heating savings.

Learn more

Zebra Shades in Camby

Chain and clutch, same as a roller, with a tensioner anchored into the frame. A cassette hides the roll and finishes the top edge of the Camby window, and it's worth checking whether your trim has the depth for one before the order goes in.

Learn more

Roman Shades in Camby

Lining fails before the face fabric does. Sun works on the side facing the Camby glass, so a shade that looks perfect from inside can be chalky and weak on the back after years on a south window. Relining's possible and it costs real money.

Learn more

Woven Wood Shades in Camby

Camby Window Treatments is insured and bonded and puts your Camby order in writing, as Indiana's IC 24-5-11 requires over $150. The liner choice belongs on that paperwork, because a woven wood without a liner is a different product from one with it.

Learn more

Blackout Shades in Camby

Nationally, custom treatments run roughly $250 to $2,600 per window and motorized adds about $300 to $1,500 per window installed. Channels and a light-blocking pocket push a Camby blackout job up from a plain roller. There's no local installed pricing published anywhere credible.

Learn more

Plantation Shutters in Camby

Shutters aren't priced by the piece, they're priced by the square foot of opening and by the frame and louver spec. Nationally, interior shutters run about $175 to $800 per window. A Camby house with tall front windows lands at the high end simply because the openings themselves are large.

Learn more

Cafe Shutters in Camby

There's nothing to pull and nothing hanging within a child's reach, which is why a shutter of any height sidesteps the cord question. Inner-cord non-compliance is a substantial product hazard under 16 CFR 1120.3, and a Camby nursery avoids the issue completely.

Learn more

Motorized Shades in Camby

A sun sensor reads light at one spot, so it can drop a shade for a passing bright cloud and leave a Camby room dark for an hour. An astronomical timer follows sunrise and sunset by date instead, and for most houses that's the calmer setup.

Learn more

Custom Drapery in Camby

Panels stacked open still occupy wall. If the rod doesn't run past the trim, an open Camby panel sits over the glass and eats your view along with your daylight, so we extend the rod on both sides and size the return so the stack lands on wall.

Learn more

Valances & Top Treatments in Camby

A fabric valance and a manufactured cassette do the same structural job differently. The cassette is tight and low profile, matched to the shade, while the valance brings color and softness the hard product can't. Which one suits your Camby room is a style call, not a technical one.

Learn more

Exterior Solar Shades in Camby

There are two very different jobs here. Enclosing a Camby porch bay means a large shade on tracks that lives outdoors permanently, while shading a single west window means a narrow unit that mostly stays retracted. The hardware and the price aren't comparable.

Learn more

Retractable Awnings in Camby

We offer repairs only on treatments The Window Valet installed or has serviced before. If we haven't worked on your treatments, we'll book a consultation for new ones. An awning that stays out in a storm is a repair bill, and it isn't a feature. Wind gets under the fabric and torques the arms, so every Camby install comes with a retract habit, and motorized units get a wind sensor wired in rather than offered as an extra.

Learn more

Commercial Window Treatments in Camby

Glare on screens is a solar shade problem with an openness factor answer. A 3 percent or 5 percent fabric handles most Camby office exposures, while a west-facing conference room with a video wall often needs a lower openness, or it'll need a second darkening layer behind it.

Learn more

Skylight Shades in Camby

Skylights come in shapes that never appear on a wall: trapezoids over a stairwell, triangles under a gable, long narrow runs. Each one is a custom template rather than a size off a chart, so a Camby order for these takes measuring time that a rectangle doesn't.

Learn more

Sliding Glass Door Blinds in Camby

Sliding glass door coverings across Camby. Patio doors need a one-way draw or a center split that lands the stack off the operating panel, so the door still opens without fighting the treatment. Vertical, panel track, roller and shutter options, all measured to the finished opening.

Learn more

Panel Track Blinds in Camby

Panel track is custom-fabricated, so two to five weeks is the normal window and a specific woven fabric can run longer. A Camby order also needs the stack decisions settled before release, because the track is cut to length and can't be adjusted afterward.

Learn more

Sheer Shades in Camby

Summer sun through a sheer is diffused, not blocked, which is the point and it's also the limit. NFRC attributes 40 to 60 percent of fading to UV, and a Camby south window under a sheer shade still passes real light, so a rug underneath will shift over time.

Learn more

Pleated Shades in Camby

We offer repairs only on treatments The Window Valet installed or has serviced before. If we haven't worked on your treatments, we'll book a consultation for new ones. When a pleated shade fails, it's almost always the cord lock or a frayed lift cord rather than the fabric. That's usually repairable, so a Camby homeowner with a shade that won't hold position should ask about a restring before assuming the whole treatment is finished.

Learn more

Bamboo Shades in Camby

Natural materials are woven by hand, so lead time sits at the longer end of the usual two to five weeks and a specific weave can be between runs. We'll check availability before writing a Camby order rather than promising a date and revising it later.

Learn more

Dual Shades in Camby

Raised fully, the banded fabric and the cassette occupy an inch or two at the top of the opening. On a short Camby window that's a real loss of glass, so an outside mount above the trim is often the better call even though it costs a slightly bigger shade.

Learn more

Top-Down Bottom-Up Shades in Camby

Front rooms are where this earns its money. A Camby living room on a sidewalk lot can have the upper third of the glass open all day for light and still be completely private at seated eye level, and nobody outside can tell it's a special product.

Learn more

Cordless Blinds in Camby

Stairwell and landing windows are where Camby homeowners notice the difference. There's no cord dangling into the traffic path and nothing to tie off out of reach, so a hallway blind operates with one hand on the bottom rail and looks the same closed as the ones downstairs.

Learn more

Hardwood Shutters in Camby

Width has a limit. Past about 36 inches a single panel sags on its hinges, so a wide Camby opening gets split into multiple panels, which puts more stiles across the glass. Bifold and bypass tracks solve part of it, and we'll lay out the configuration before you commit.

Learn more

Composite Shutters in Camby

Cleaning is the quiet advantage. The wrapped surface takes a damp cloth and mild soap without raising grain or lifting a finish, which matters over a Camby kitchen sink where cooking film lands on every louver whether you're cooking much or not.

Learn more

Smart Home Shade Integration in Camby

Bring the installer the network, not just the shades. Guest networks, a router that isolates devices, or a mesh system that shuffles bands can all stop a hub from finding what it's supposed to find. We sort that out on the Camby site rather than blaming the shades.

Learn more

Blind Repair & Restring in Camby

We offer repairs only on treatments The Window Valet installed or has serviced before. If we haven't worked on your treatments, we'll book a consultation for new ones. Residential repair work still falls under a written contract when it runs over $150, which is what IC 24-5-11 requires in Indiana. Indiana licenses nobody for this trade, so what a Camby customer really gets is a written scope and a company that's insured and bonded.

Learn more

Shutter Repair in Camby

Louvers droop because the tension at the pin has relaxed, not because the panel is failing. Most systems can be re-tensioned so the louvers hold where you set them, and on a Camby set that's a short visit. Where the pin itself has broken through the stile, it's a bigger conversation.

Learn more

Motorization Retrofit in Camby

Sometimes new shades cost less than retrofitting old ones. If your Camby treatments are aging, the fabric is tired and the hardware needs replacing anyway, motorizing them is money spent on a shade you'll want to change in three years. We'll do that arithmetic with you honestly.

Learn more

Outdoor Patio Shades in Camby

There's a house we'll tell to skip these. An unprotected west wall with no cover overhead, on an open Camby lot with nothing breaking the wind, is a hard place to keep an exterior shade alive. An interior solar shade with a high performance fabric is the sane answer there.

Learn more

Office Window Treatments in Camby

Small offices get overserved constantly. If a Camby practice has eight windows on one exposure and no presentation room, the right answer is a single well-chosen solar fabric on all eight, not a system with zones and a hub. We'll price it that way and say why.

Learn more

Healthcare Window Treatments in Camby

Exam rooms are a privacy question first, and it isn't a subtle one. Glass at ground level facing a parking area needs a treatment that gives full privacy from outside while still allowing light in, and a bottom-up shade handles that better in a Camby clinic than a standard roller ever will.

Learn more

Multifamily Window Treatments in Camby

Submittals still apply on new construction. A Camby general contractor should expect product data, fabric samples, bracket details and flame propagation test documentation where the occupancy requires it, reviewed and approved before fabrication rather than assembled after the first delivery's already on site.

About Us

Local Expertise, Real Results

We'll build your Camby window treatment plan around the openings in your own house.

Camby Window Treatments works in Camby and across Marion County on everything from a single cordless cellular shade in a nursery to motorized rollers on a two-story wall of glass. The tall, unreachable openings are usually where motorization earns its cost. On low windows we'll say the cheaper option is fine, because it is.

The service area takes in both sides of the Marion and Morgan County line in Camby, from Heartland Crossing's older sections along Browns Valley Lane and Abbey Dell Drive to the newer streets around Hillway Drive, Dingley Road and Big Bend Boulevard. The Marion County side sits in the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township and the Morgan County side in the Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation, so the school district changes where Heartland Crossing crosses the line.

Your Camby project starts with the rooms you want to change. We'll ask what isn't working at the windows and look at how the light moves through your house. Your in home design consultation is free. We'll look at your openings and talk through the rooms you're planning to cover. We offer repairs only on treatments The Window Valet installed or has serviced before. If we haven't worked on your treatments, we'll book a consultation for new ones.

Our Promise

We'll explain the mounting choice before you order for your Camby home. If a product won't clear a handle or fit the available depth, we'll work through the options with you at the window.

Why Camby Chooses Us

What Good Looks Like in a Camby Window

Serving Camby and Marion County with quality materials, thorough inspections, and transparent pricing.

A plan based on the local housing

Camby's housing runs from Heartland Crossing sections built between 1999 and 2005, through Camby Village homes from 2012 and 2013, to Glenwood Estates, Noble Heights and Parks at Decatur homes from 2022 onward.

Measurements for your own frames

We'll check each opening in your Camby home and look at the room available for the hardware. If a window has been changed since the house was built, the plan needs to work with the frame that's there today.

Samples viewed in your rooms

We'll discuss the finish alongside your Camby room's existing trim and furniture. The light at your own window helps you judge whether the fabric suits the space.

Our Process

How a Camby Walkthrough Becomes a Cut List

Your Camby window treatment project starts with a design visit. We'll work through the openings before the product is ordered, then plan installation around the confirmed order.

Discuss the rooms

We'll talk through what you'd like to change in your Camby home and which rooms belong in the first phase. Your in home design consultation is free. We'll look at your openings and talk through the rooms you're planning to cover.

Measure the openings

We'll check the available mounting space and how the windows operate. Any recently replaced frames need to be measured in their finished condition.

Review the product plan

We'll discuss the fabric and the mounting arrangement before the order goes in. If an opening limits your first choice, we'll explain what that means for the treatment.

Confirm installation details

We'll confirm the order's installation plan and explain how to use the chosen treatments. Ask about access for maintenance if you're considering motorized shades.

Common Causes

What we see most often on Camby window treatments

Camby homeowners typically call us about these scenarios.

A West Room Nobody Uses After Three

It's the most common call we get in Camby. The living room is fine all morning and by mid-afternoon the sun is coming in almost horizontally, the television is unwatchable and the room is several degrees warmer than the rest of the house. People stop using it and assume that's simply how the house is. A solar shade at the right openness usually gives the room back.

Shutters Whose Louvers Will Not Stay Put

They drift open under their own weight because the tension has relaxed after a few seasons of Indiana humidity swings. There's a tension adjustment designed for exactly this. It's a twenty minute visit and most owners assume their shutters are simply wearing out. Anybody who has lived with shutters for a few years should know the adjustment exists.

Vertical Vanes Snapping Off The Slider

The patio door treatment has lost three vanes, the carrier stems are broken and the whole thing clacks every time the door opens. On a door used daily, that's a product reaching the end of its life. Vertical cellular or panel track glides are the usual upgrades and both stack clear of the handle.

Motorized Shades That Have Gone Quiet

Nothing responds to the remote and the assumption is that the motors have failed. Usually the batteries are flat. Hunter Douglas states PowerView battery life is about one year and every wireless platform is close to that. It's the most under-disclosed running cost in this trade and it's the first thing we check.

Blinds That Will Not Close Tight

Light comes through at the slat edges even when the wand is turned fully. Usually the tilt mechanism only closes properly in one direction, which is a manufacturing fault that should have been caught on install day. On an older blind it can also be worn ladder strings letting the slats sit unevenly.

A Shade Hung On Drywall Alone

It came down, probably in year two, with the anchors still in the bracket and a hole in the wall where the fixing pulled through. Brackets belong in studs, headers or anchors rated for the load. This is an install failure rather than a product failure, and it's entirely preventable.

How We Work

Five Stages, In This Order

Custom window treatments are made to your openings, so the order matters more than it does in most trades. This is how every Camby job runs.

1

Free In-Home Measure

Every opening gets three widths, three heights and a diagonal square check, because houses settle and an opening that is out of square is the difference between a shade that runs true and one that binds. Mounting depth gets read at the jamb. It all goes on paper before any product conversation starts.

2

Product and Fabric, In Your Own Light

Samples get looked at in the room they are going in, not under showroom lighting. This is where openness factor, inside versus outside mount, roll direction and material get decided, and where we tell you the light gap you are going to live with.

3

Written Scope and Contract

Opening by opening, with the mount type, the light gap, the operation and the total price in writing. Indiana requires a written contract on residential work over $150 under IC 24-5-11, and we would write one anyway.

4

Custom Fabrication

Your sizes go to the workroom. Two to five weeks is typical depending on product and finish, longer on specialty shapes and motorized configurations. You get the real date at the measure rather than a range.

5

Install and Walkthrough

Brackets anchored for the substrate they are going into, everything checked level and square, motor travel limits set and scenes built with you standing there. Then we show you how it all works and take the packaging with us.

Drapery Questions From Camby Homes

Straight answers to the questions Camby homeowners ask most.

Indiana Climate

Indiana Weather Affects Window Treatments Year Round

Indiana sees some of the most varied weather in the country. Camby homeowners live in IECC climate zone 5A, which carries a real cooling load in summer and a real heating load in winter. July averages a high near 85F, January averages a high near 36F with lows near 21F, and the muggy season runs from late May into late September. That is why the same window can be the hottest room in the house in July and the coldest in January.

Check the room at the hours you use it

Tell us when glare affects your Camby room. We'll look at which window is responsible and discuss a treatment for that use of the space.

Review privacy after dark

A fabric that gives a daytime view may leave the room visible after dark. We'll discuss that difference before you choose a shade for an occupied room.

Keep working windows accessible

We'll check the treatment against the sash and the controls you use to open the window. The finished arrangement needs to let you operate both.

Connect the plan across a room

If you're covering several openings in one room, we'll discuss how the treatments look together. Each opening still gets its own measurements.

Choosing the Right Treatment for Camby Rooms

An honest breakdown of the three we specify most often, and when each one is the right answer.

Cellular Shades

The one product in this trade with measured energy numbers behind it. Trapped air in the cells does the work, and DOE and ORNL testing found cellular shades saved up to 20 percent on heating energy and up to 15 percent on total heating and cooling against a bare window. In a Camby house that matters in January and again in July, which is unusual for one product. Single cell suits most rooms, double cell where the glass is large or the room runs cold. Top-down bottom-up gets you daylight and privacy at the same time.

Both seasonsInsulating$$
Solar & Roller Shades

What you reach for when the complaint is afternoon sun. Solar fabrics come in stated openness factors, and that number is the whole decision: a lower openness cuts more glare and more of the view, a higher one keeps the view and cuts less. On a west or south Camby window this is usually the honest answer rather than blackout, because blackout kills the room. Cassette or fascia hides the roll, and roll direction gets decided at the measure so the fabric does not foul a crank or a lock.

Glare controlKeeps the view$$$
Plantation Shutters

The one that stays with the house. Shutters are a finish rather than a covering, and they do not get replaced every few years. In Camby the material choice is technical rather than a matter of taste: composite and poly in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms and sunrooms, because a four month humid season followed by a dry heated winter will move real hardwood, and hardwood only where the room stays conditioned. Louver size, frame style and divider rail get decided standing at your window.

Light Control

See What Each Fabric Does To The Light

Pick a fabric below and the window updates. It's a drawing rather than a photograph, so read it as a rough guide to what each family does in a Camby room, and to what it doesn't do.

Fabric type

Sheer, 10 percent openness

Ten percent of the weave is open, so you keep the view and most of the daylight. Glare drops a little. After dark, once your lamps are on, someone outside can read shapes through it, which is why this belongs on a view window rather than a bedroom.

Openness factor is printed on the fabric card, so you can compare one line against another before you order anything.

Keeps the viewNot private after dark

Solar, 5 percent openness

The usual pick for a west window or a covered porch. You can still read the yard through it, glare comes down noticeably, and the fabric intercepts a good share of the sun before it reaches you at four in the afternoon.

It also cuts the UV landing on floors and furniture. NFRC puts UV at roughly 40 to 60 percent of fading damage, so this slows fading rather than stopping it.

View and glare controlSlows fading

Solar, 3 percent openness

A tighter weave. The room goes dimmer and the view drops back to an outline. Choose it where the sun is the problem and the view is second, which around here usually means a west wall in July. That's a common call on this side of Indianapolis.

Openness affects how much you see out, not how private you are. A 3 percent fabric still shows silhouettes at night.

View becomes an outlineStrong glare control

Solar, 1 percent openness

Close to a solid fabric with a little view left in it. This is the strongest glare control in the solar family.

The trade is that it darkens the room on a gray January day too. Indianapolis averages a January high near 36F and the light is flat, so think about how the room reads in both seasons before you commit.

Darkest solar optionDim on gray days

Light filtering

No view through it. Daylight comes through the face diffused, so the room stays bright without a hot spot across the television or the kitchen island. This is the default for living spaces.

It isn't private in reverse at night. With the lamps on and the sun down, silhouettes still show.

No view through itBright without the glare

Room darkening

A denser fabric, usually with a liner behind it. Most of the light coming through the face is gone.

Light still arrives around the edges on an inside mount, so a room darkening shade gives you a dim room rather than a dark one. If someone in the house sleeps during the day, say so at the measure and we'll scope it differently.

Dim, not darkEdges stay bright

Blackout

The fabric itself passes essentially no light. What you'll still see is the perimeter. Lutron publishes an inside-mount light gap of about 3/4 inch per side on its Roller 20 and 64 shades, along with a standard factory deduction of 1/16 inch per side, and shades over 120 inches tall or past a 4:1 height-to-width ratio get larger gaps than that.

So if you need a genuinely dark bedroom, that gap has to be dealt with on purpose, either with side channels or by going outside mount. We tell you which one your opening can carry while we're still standing in the room.

Dark facePerimeter needs a plan

Openness factor is a measured fabric spec, so you can compare it line to line. The category names are not measured. One maker's room darkening can behave like another maker's light filtering, which is why the sample books come to the measure and get opened in the room they're going in, at the hour that room has the problem.

Camby Streets and Subdivisions We Know

Window Treatment projects completed across Camby's neighborhoods and surrounding areas. Click any neighborhood for the specifics we have learned working there.

Valley Ridge is one of the named sections of Heartland Crossing, the large community south of Camby's center that straddles the Marion and Morgan County line. This section sits on the Marion County side, about 1.8 miles south of central Camby, along Browns Valley Lane and Blooming Grove Drive. The houses went up in 2000 and 2001, and they're two story traditionals of roughly 2,100 to 3,200 square feet on lots well under a quarter acre. The two streets carry around 80 addresses between them, so this is a good sized section. Like the rest of Heartland Crossing, Valley Ridge shares the community's pools, courts and trails, and an association collects monthly dues from the homeowners. Abbey Dell Drive carries the Colony section of Heartland Crossing, on the Marion County side about 1.6 miles south southwest of Camby's center. The houses here date to 2003, and the section mixes single story ranches with compact two stories, generally in the range of 1,500 to 1,800 square feet. Lots run around 6,000 square feet, with sidewalks, curbs and street lighting along the way. Roughly 34 addresses make up Abbey Dell Drive. Colony's 2003 houses came a couple of years before the 2005 houses in Northfield, another Heartland Crossing section to the east, and like the rest of the community it comes with an association that collects dues for the shared clubhouse, park, playground and courts. View Colony at Heartland Crossing window treatment details →
Ash Grove Drive is the street of Northfield at Heartland Crossing, a section built in 2005 on the Marion County side of the community, about 1.6 miles south of Camby's center. The houses are two story traditionals of around 2,200 square feet on lots of roughly 5,700 to 7,800 square feet, and a few sit on corner lots that run wider than deep. About 34 addresses line Ash Grove Drive. The name is sometimes written as Northfield @ Heartland Crossing, so both spellings turn up on paperwork. Houses of this age have reached the point where roofs, water heaters and air conditioning condensers get replaced, and the section falls in the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township like the rest of the Marion County side. View Northfield at Heartland Crossing window treatment details →
Villas at Heartland Crossing sits on Flat Rock Drive on the Morgan County side of the community, about 2.7 miles south of Camby's center and on the far side of the county line from Valley Ridge, Colony and Northfield. The villas date to 1999 and are condo style two stories of around 1,870 square feet, with three bedrooms, two and a half baths and an upstairs loft. Covered front porches look across the street to green space, and large screened porches at the back lead to outdoor grilling areas, so the plan has sheltered outdoor space on both sides of the house. The association looks after the roofs and exterior structure, so the owners handle the inside and leave the outside to the association. View Villas at Heartland Crossing window treatment details →
The Enclave of Heartland Crossing is a newer section on Rising Sun Circle South, inside the Morgan County portion of the community and roughly 2.6 miles south southeast of central Camby. Homes here date to 2023, which makes them much newer than the Marion County sections of Heartland Crossing, where the houses date from 2000 to 2005. They're two story single family houses of around 1,680 square feet with four bedrooms and two and a half baths, set on lots of about 7,000 square feet, some of which back to water and trees. The community amenities include a pool, trails, parks, courts, a clubhouse and an on site golf course, and monthly association dues go with the house. View The Enclave of Heartland Crossing window treatment details →
Camby Village sits roughly 0.6 to 0.9 miles south of Camby's center on the Marion County side, along Camby Village Boulevard, Belmac Lane and Frasier Lane. Older paperwork calls the community The Groves at Camby Village, and a newer section from Taylor Morrison goes by Oberlin at Camby Village, where the homes are single level ranches. The original houses were built in 2012 and 2013, the Oberlin ranches date to 2026, and the lots run from about 4,800 to 6,600 square feet. Sizes span roughly 1,350 to 2,280 square feet, and the plans range from two stories with lofts to compact ranches. The whole community sits in the Metropolitan School District of Decatur Township, and each street carries its own association dues. View Camby Village window treatment details →
Glenwood Estates is a Lennar community on the Marion County side of Camby, roughly 0.9 mile east and southeast of the center, around Hillway Drive and Parkstay Lane. Some paperwork calls the same area Glenwood in Camby, and both names refer to the same streets. The homes date to 2022 and 2023, and the Venture Collection plans here run to about 2,700 to 2,800 square feet, two story houses on lots near a quarter acre. Hillway Drive carries around 74 addresses and Parkstay Lane around 29, so the community is a good size. Noble Heights, another Lennar community, lies about 0.6 mile to the west, and the two share a builder's approach to open main floors, lofts and multi car garages. View Glenwood Estates window treatment details →
Noble Heights is a Lennar community with two collections, Carriage and Venture, and its sales office sits on Dingley Road roughly 0.7 mile south of Camby's center on the Marion County side. The homes date to 2026, with construction still under way. Carriage Collection plans run from 1,567 to 2,427 square feet with three to five bedrooms, while the Venture homes on Dingley Road are two stories of around 2,170 square feet on lots of about 7,550 square feet. Noble Heights Lane and Dingley Road are the streets, and Camby Village lies about a fifth of a mile to the east. Shared amenities include a pool with a pool house, a playground and trails, and the community carries monthly association dues. View Noble Heights window treatment details →
Parks at Decatur is a D.R. Horton community at North County Line Road and Paddock Road, with a sales office on Smokey Mountain Drive, roughly 1.9 miles south southeast of Camby's center on the Marion County side. The homes date to 2026, and more sit ready to build. Eight floor plans with three to five bedrooms come in single story and two story layouts, with sizes from about 1,500 to 2,900 square feet, and the Bellamy plan on Sand Dunes Avenue is a four bedroom of 2,053 square feet. Big Bend Boulevard carries around 44 addresses. Noble Heights, another new community, lies about 1.4 miles to the northwest, and the Enclave of Heartland Crossing is about two thirds of a mile to the southeast. View Parks at Decatur window treatment details →
North Madison Crossing is a small community along Landing Circle in Morgan County, about 2.7 miles south of central Camby and a third of a mile west of the Villas at Heartland Crossing. The homes date to 2021 and 2022 and are two stories with lofts of around 2,300 to 2,600 square feet, on lots of a quarter to a third of an acre. Both parcels are zoned as a Planned Unit Development, and Pyatt is among the builders. Being in Morgan County, the community falls in the Mooresville Consolidated School Corporation. Landing Circle West and Landing Circle East are the streets, and monthly association dues go with the homes, even though the community has no pool or clubhouse of its own.
